Relationship & Couples Therapy

A calm, impartial space for couples to talk honestly, understand each other more clearly and decide together what happens next.

When relationships feel difficult

Every relationship goes through hard times. Sometimes it helps to have a neutral, experienced person in the room while you find your way through them.

Couples often come to therapy when they notice:

  • The same arguments going round in circles
  • Communication that has become tense, guarded or has stopped altogether
  • Feeling unheard, unappreciated or alone within the relationship
  • Emotional distance or disconnection
  • Trust that has been damaged, including after an affair
  • Changes in intimacy or your sexual relationship
  • A relationship crisis, or uncertainty about the future
  • Big life transitions — a new baby, illness, bereavement, relocation, retirement

What relationship therapy can help you explore

Therapy doesn't offer quick fixes or guaranteed outcomes. What it can offer is space to slow down and understand what is happening between you, including:

  • How each of you experiences the relationship
  • The patterns you fall into when things get difficult
  • What lies underneath recurring conflict
  • How to listen, and be listened to, differently
  • Rebuilding trust and connection, where both of you want to
  • Decisions about the future — together or apart

How sessions work

Sessions are 60 minutes, in person or online.

  1. Free consultation

A short conversation, up to 30 minutes, to talk about what brings you and whether working together feels right.

  2. Assessment

Early sessions help Maria understand your relationship, each of your perspectives and what you hope for.

  3. Regular sessions

Regular sessions, at a frequency you agree together. Occasionally Maria may suggest an individual session with each partner.

  4. Reviews

You'll review progress together regularly and decide how long to continue.

Maria's approach

Maria doesn't take sides or decide who is right. Her focus is on the relationship — helping each of you feel safe enough to be honest, and supporting conversations that are hard to have at home.

She works with couples of all ages, backgrounds, genders and sexualities, whether married, living together, living apart, or in other kinds of relationships. Sessions can be held in English or Greek, and some couples use both.

If your partner isn't ready to come, it can still help to talk things through on your own in individual counselling.

Frequently asked questions

Do we both have to come to every session?

Usually yes, because the relationship is the focus. Occasionally Maria may suggest an individual session with each partner as part of the work — this is always discussed openly with you both.

How many sessions will we need?

It varies. Some couples come for a handful of sessions, others for longer. You'll review how things are going together and decide what feels right.

What if one of us isn't sure about the relationship?

That's very common. Therapy can help you both understand where you are and make decisions more thoughtfully — whether that means staying together or separating as respectfully as possible.

Is couples therapy confidential?

Yes. What you share stays within the sessions, with a small number of legal and safeguarding exceptions that Maria will explain before you begin.

Can we have sessions online?

Online sessions are available. Many couples find this works well, including when partners join from different places.

Can we speak Greek in sessions?

Yes. Maria works in English and Greek, and you're welcome to use whichever language — or mix of both — feels most natural.

Ready to talk together?

A free initial consultation lets you both ask questions and get a feel for working with Maria before you decide anything.
