About Maria

Hello, I'm Maria.

I'm a counsellor and relationship therapist, working with individuals and couples in English and Greek. For more than nine years I've been helping people talk about the things that are hardest to say.

Maria Konstantinelli, counsellor and therapist

What I believe about therapy

I believe most people already hold a great deal of wisdom about their own lives — what often gets in the way is not having the space, or the safety, to hear it. Therapy can offer that space.

My role isn't to judge, diagnose or tell you what to do. It's to listen carefully, to be curious alongside you, and to help you notice patterns, feelings and needs that can be hard to see from the inside. Change, where it comes, tends to grow out of understanding.

My experience

I have more than nine years' experience in counselling and relationship therapy.

Over that time I've worked with people from many different backgrounds and walks of life, and with a wide range of concerns — from communication difficulties and life transitions to grief, anxiety and questions about sex and intimacy.

How I work

A gentle, clear structure — so you always know what to expect.

  1. A free first conversation

Up to 30 minutes to talk briefly about what brings you, ask questions and see how it feels.

  2. Getting to know you

Our first sessions focus on understanding your situation and what you'd like from therapy.

  3. Working together

Regular sessions, at a pace that feels manageable.

  4. Reviewing as we go

We check in regularly about how things are going, and plan an ending together when the time is right.

Working with individuals

In individual counselling, the focus is on you — your feelings, your history, your relationships and the choices in front of you. Some people come with something specific; others simply know that something doesn't feel right.

Working with couples

With couples, the relationship itself is the focus. I don't take sides. Instead I help each of you feel heard, slow down the conversations that usually go wrong, and understand what is happening between you. I also offer psychosexual therapy for individuals and couples who want support with sex and intimacy.

Counselling in English & Greek

I work in both English and Greek. Many bilingual clients find that certain memories, feelings or family conversations live in one language more than the other — you're welcome to move between them however feels natural.
