It's natural to feel hesitant about this

Talking about sex can feel exposing, even with a professional. Many people wait a long time before reaching out. Maria will never rush you, and you'll never be asked to share more than you're ready to.

  • ConfidentialWhat you share stays between you and Maria, within clear professional and legal limits that she will explain.
  • A talking therapyPsychosexual therapy is conversation only. There is no physical examination and nothing physical happens in sessions.
  • Without judgementEveryone is welcome, whatever your gender, sexuality, relationship structure, culture or faith.

What people bring to psychosexual therapy

Sexual difficulties are more common than many people realise, and they often affect confidence, mood and relationships. People come to talk about:

  • Changes in sexual desire, or differences in desire between partners
  • Difficulties with arousal
  • Erectile difficulties
  • Premature or delayed ejaculation
  • Difficulty reaching orgasm
  • Pain during sex, including vaginismus and genito-pelvic pain
  • Performance anxiety
  • The impact of past sexual trauma
  • Questions about sexual identity
  • Changes to intimacy through pregnancy, menopause, ageing, illness, disability or medication

For individuals and couples

You can come on your own or with a partner. Some difficulties are easier to explore alone at first; others benefit from both partners being involved. Maria can talk this through with you during your free consultation.

Because some sexual difficulties have a physical side, Maria may suggest checking in with your GP or a specialist alongside therapy. This is routine, and it helps make sure you get the right support.

How sessions work

Fees are listed on the Fees & sessions page.

  1. Free consultation

A brief, confidential conversation to ask questions and see whether working together feels right.

  2. Understanding the difficulty

Early sessions gently explore your history, relationships and what the difficulty means for you. You set the pace.

  3. Working together

Sessions may include talking, understanding the body's responses and, where helpful, exercises to try at home in private.

  4. Reviewing progress

You'll review how things are going together and decide how long to continue.

Maria's approach

Maria approaches sexual concerns with warmth, openness and respect. She uses plain, clear language, and she'll check in with you about what feels comfortable to talk about.

Many clients find it easier to discuss intimate subjects in their first language. Sessions are available in English and Greek.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a partner to have psychosexual therapy?

No. Many people come on their own, whether they're single or in a relationship. Couples can also come together.

Will I have to talk about things I'm not ready to?

No. You decide what to share and when. Maria will gently ask questions, but you're always free to say you'd rather not talk about something yet.

Is there any physical examination?

No. Psychosexual therapy is a talking therapy. If a physical cause needs to be ruled out, Maria may suggest you speak with your GP.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No — you can contact Maria directly. If you're already seeing a doctor or specialist, it can help to let Maria know.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Your sessions are confidential, with a small number of legal and safeguarding exceptions that Maria will explain clearly before you begin.

Can I have sessions in Greek?

Yes. Maria offers psychosexual therapy in English and Greek.
